Rana is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about seeing God bring hope and healing to people's lives. She enjoys working with college students, adults, couples, and families and has conducted therapy in a variety of settings, including community agencies, hospitals, and churches. Her training and experience have equipped her to provide counseling for a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, parenting, relational conflict, life transitions, identity issues, and spiritual development. Rana has been trained in PREPARE / ENRICH and the Gottman Method (completed Level 2 Training) for couples and pre-marriage counseling. She is also a graduate of the Harris Early Childhood Mental Health program. She is fluent in Cantonese, and understands the complexities of a bicultural experience. She believes that therapy should aim at core heart issues to produce real and lasting change.  Rana sees individual clients for $130 per session and couples for extended session rate of $170.

He has training in strategic family therapy (Mental Research Institute, Palo Alto, CA), cognitive behavioral therapy (U.C. Davis Medical School), and PREPARE/ENRICH. He is a certified Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid trainer. He has taught in middle school (5 years in Oakland) and worked in North East Brazil and Cape Town, South Africa. Michael sees clients for $110 a session.

Scott is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who received his Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. Scott believes that each of us, if provided enough safety and encouragement, can navigate life’s obstacles and grow toward a life of peace and meaning with greater connection to God and others. In addition to extensive training in a wide variety of psychological approaches (interpersonal, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, trauma work) and a strong foundation in Christian spirituality, Scott has extensive training in mindfulness, meditation and various forms of yoga. Decades of experience and training enable Scott to be fully present to each and every client. As an adoptive and foster parent, Scott also has a particular interest in areas related to adoption, attachment, grief and loss, and infertility. Scott sees clients for a fee of $140 per session/$185 for extended couples session when deemed appropriate.

She believes that clients often have the answers to their questions and simply require a safe space filled with empathy and honesty, to process, experience healing, and learn healthy ways to connect in the present moment. In guiding clients toward the change they seek, Jacqueline draws from a variety of approaches including self-care, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), often incorporating skills that can help with emotion regulation and distress tolerance. For work with couples, Jacqueline has been trained in PREPARE/ENRICH and is a Gottman Leader. Jacqueline sees clients for $120 per session/$165 for extended couples session.

Lily is a licensed clinical psychologist, ordained Presbyterian pastor, and Assistant Professor at Holy Names University teaching undergraduate Psychology and graduate Counseling Psychology courses. Lily earned both her PhD and Master degrees from the Graduate School of Psychology (APA accredited) at Fuller Theological Seminary, and her Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary. 

Lily brings a wealth of ministry and clinical experience to BCC, including supervision, training, and psychological testing. Lily is a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator and enjoys working with couples on their premarital journey. Lily uses a strength-based approach working with clients on many life issues including culture, family, and marriage. Clients often find her rich pastoral experience very helpful as they deal with emotional issues and understand them from the faith perspective. Lily is tri-cultural and tri-lingual, speaking English, Mandarin-Chinese, and Burmese (the language of Myanmar). Lily sees clients for $185 per session.

Office Manager 

 Ellen joined BCC in February 2020. After many years as a Controller in property management, Ellen enjoyed the shift from a corporate culture into a faith-based environment. She appreciates being able to use her accounting and writing skills to support and encourage the counselors as they help others find healing and change in their lives.  Although most of her career has been in accounting, Ellen graduated with a Bachelors in English (with a writing emphasis) from the University of California, Davis. Now that her commute has decreased from three hours a day to thirty minutes, she plans to use some of that recovered time for writing. Ellen is also fluent in German.

Anna earned her Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology at The Wright Institute in September 2019. Anna began counseling at BCC in September 2018. She enjoys working with adults and adolescents on topics such as trauma, anxiety, depression, social interactions, sexuality, life transitions, spirituality, grief & loss, anger, and relational difficulties with loved ones. Anna is also very interested in working with couples, families, and children, and is a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator. Anna's priority is to create a safe, respectful, and restorative therapeutic environment where clients can feel acknowledged, accepted, and empowered. Anna attends the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland.  Anna sees clients for $85 per session.

 Mark has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of San Francisco. He enjoys working with adolescents, adults and couples. Mark is most interested in creating a comforting therapeutic environment where kind, compassionate, non-judgmental and open-minded exchanges are fostered during the counseling experience. He utilizes the relationship-building aspect of a client-centered approach with an interest in psychodynamic methodology. Mark sees clients for $85 per session.

Clyde earned his Master of Arts degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Trinity College of Graduate Studies and obtained a certification in Professional Teaching of Adults from U.C. Berkeley. Clyde is also an ordained pastor having served in church ministry for over forty years. Clyde is trained in both Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. He has completed Gottman Principles Training Level 1 and uses that training along with Emotionally Focused Therapy in his work with clients to enhance and enrich relationships. Clyde is PREPARE/ENRICH certified to work with pre-marital and married clients and he also enjoys working with single adults. Clyde sees clients for $85 per session.

Julia is a second year Masters of Counseling Psychology student at The Wright Institute and brings years of ministry experience to her position. Before starting graduate school, she worked with a college ministry on UC-Berkeley’s campus to support a wide range of students - the convinced and unconvinced of the Christian faith, outsider, new, hurting, and thriving - in a transitional and pivotal season of life. This work has inspired her to provide therapy that brings hope, freedom, healing, and joy to areas such as relationships, trauma, addictions, shame, stress, anxiety, and depression. Julia attends Resurrection Oakland Church and began training at Berkeley Christian Counselors in August 2019. Julia sees clients for $65 per session.

 Zuleima is completing her Masters in Counseling Psychology at Holy Names University. Zuleima has work experience at the Raskob Learning Institute and Day School working with children and adolescents from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds who struggle with language-based learning disabilities. Zuleima is fluent in English and Spanish. Being bilingual, Zuleima offers Spanish-speaking clients at BCC a place where they can be free to express their thoughts and feelings in Spanish. Zuleima wishes to create a safe and positive environment where her clients may feel heard. She looks forward to expanding her scope of cultural competence working at BCC.
